Social network vacuum
Boarded the Airasia flight for Tianjin in the morning, arrived in Beijing close to 6pm. While the flight had the usual turbulence, the journey from Tianjin to Beijing took me longer than I'd thought. You can get a RMB10 shuttle bus outside the Tianjin airport to the Tianjin Railway station. The bus ride is about 30-45 minutes with traffic. Then you can take the bullet train to Beijing for about RMB58 for a 2nd class seat. It takes about 30 minutes but you might have to wait a little for the next available train. Trains depart every half hour. Once at the Beijing South Station, it is connected to the city subway system which is great but battling the rush hour crowd was daunting!
And it's a social network vacuum here in Beijing for an English-speaking, Facebook-Twitter-Foursquare user like me. Google works, as does Google Apps. But I can't load Posterous on the browser, nor Picasa. So much for sharing info about my vacation! So I'm going to follow some advice I found online by posting my updates via email to Posterous. If this works, then Posterous - you are awesome.
